Where we're at...

Life's been busy for us lately! Between work, going to football games, and everyday stuff, I feel like we haven't stopped. Brian has been working on his CV (curriculum vitae, kinda like a resume) and trying to decide if he still wants to teach or go into industry. He is in his 4th year, of hopefully 5 years, and then it's on to somewhere else! If he decides to teach, we will move somewhere else for 1-2 years so he can complete a post-doctoral fellowship and then on to a teaching position at a college. If he goes into industry, he will probably not do a post-doc. Industry would probably mean a bigger paycheck, but will also keep us far from family. Teaching will likely give us more options of where to live, but can be more stressful until he gets tenure.

As for me, I've accepted an apprenticeship program at work. This was a big decision for us because it will mean more time and responsibility, but it's a great opportunity. I received one promotion before entering the program and after 6 months - year if all goes well, I will be promoted into the next department. On one hand, I am extremely excited and honored to be selected for the program. On the other hand, I tend to be timid at work and I'm going to have to step up and work on communicating with different departments and delegating. If you know me well, you know that change and uncertainty is not my thing, and there is a lot of it going on right now!

Lately, I've been ready for our 'grown up' life to begin. We've been married over 3 years, and to be honest, I'm ready to be closer to home and have some kiddos =). It's so easy to compare your life with friends and say, 'Why can't we be there yet?'. Grad school is just a different kind of life, and it's hard to explain what it's like to be in it (or married to someone who is). I know God has a plan and a purpose for us, and I just have to trust. This week I've been trying to keep 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 in mind: '
16Be joyful always; 17pray continually; 18give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.'

Hope you all have a great week!!
