A doctor of Philosophy that is! I'm very proud to say that Brian had his defense yesterday and received approval from his committee. PhD down, Post Doctoral Fellowship to go. It's been a busy year so far, Brian was preparing for his dissertation, we finished up things around the house so we could put it on the market, and if all goes as planned we'll both be headed to NY. Until the house sells I'll be sticking around Austin, so please pray it sells soon.
In baby news, I can officially feel him moving! It's mostly at night, but I love to lay down and feel him kicking around. I've been told it's not so friendly fire towards the end, so for now I'm going to enjoy it =). Brian actually felt him the other night too. He had his hand on my belly and went, 'Holy crap, son!'. I laughed and said 'Did you feel him move?'. He said 'he didn't move, that was a donkey kick!'. It's nice to be able to share it together!
I'd have a picture to show, but my self-portrait session didn't go so well. It did give me a good laugh though.
While I'm thinking about it, all you moms out there, what are the things you are glad you purchased and what do you wish you skipped out on? I can't promise I will follow everyone's advise, but I will definitely take it to heart. You will know better than I will!!

congrats to Brian! I will pray that your house sells soon but from what we hear, it's a crummy market. Great question to your readers. I'm not a mom, so I won't reply but I hope they post their answers here as we'd all like to benefit from their experience!
Best of luck to yall!

SO happy to hear you and baby are well! Congrats to Dr. Brain (spelled correctly). For me I didn't get any bottle or wipes warmers, I didn't see the need. I loved my boppy pillow and you will get lots of use out of it even if breastfeeding isn't successful. If I think of anything else I will let you know. OHHH, something we are getting with the new baby is the changing pad called jelly baby. It doesn't require you to put a cover on it, but you can if you want to. But it holds up so well. Meredith has torn hers apart. These are expensive but they will last multiple babies. They are found on the internet and specialty stores, not Babies R Us or Target.
congrats!! i think it's craziest when you begin to SEE the baby move in your belly. creepy and miraculous all at the same time. :o)
I swing is a must! Not only will it give you a little bit of a break, but it's the ONLY thing that made Micah content as a baby. I do have a wipe warmer and Micah now, complains of cold wipes :) Just make sure you have a ton of receiving blankets, diapers, wipes, and onesies and you'll be fine!
Cecilia, We could not live without the Snugglie Swaddle. I think that's what is was called.... We wrapped both kids tight and they both slept like babies! LOL!!
We bought one of those expensive baby carriers for the front of you and used it twice What a waste of money for us. It was so hard to get REgan in and out and I definitely couldn't do it by myself. You know I write this as your husband is in our basement :)
